Description
Also known as the “cattail mosquito,” Coquillettidia perturbans is a vector of the Eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEEV) in North America. Females bite primarily at night, usually during the early hours, but they can also be found in shady areas of their habitat during the day.

Dense emergent vegetation; larvae can be hard to find, as they cling to underwater vegetation and do not surface as frequently as other species
