AMCA 2019 Preview

The 85th annual meeting of the American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA) will be held February 25-March 1, 2019 in Orlando, Florida. This gathering of mosquito control professionals, researchers and industry leaders is the premier event for education and networking opportunities surrounding the latest strategies for managing threats to public health. Some of this year’s session topics include insecticide resistance, the use of Wolbachia for mosquito control, the importance of government organizations and private companies working together and many more. Boggy Creek Airboat Rides

Located in Kissimmee near Walt Disney World, this attraction invites you to glide across the headwaters of the Florida Everglades at speeds up to 40 mph aboard six-passenger airboats. During the 45-minute tour, you’ll encounter areas untouched by man and see a wide range of exotic wildlife.

Art & Culture

Just north of Orlando, Winter Park is home to a wide variety of cultural attractions including gardens and museums. The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art showcases glass art by Louis Comfort Tiffany. The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens displays works by the notable Czech-American artist and the Cornell Fine Arts Museum shows antiquities and contemporary works. The Mead Botanical Garden and the Harry P Leu Gardens provide a relaxing oasis for those looking to appreciate nature.

With no park admission fee, Universal CityWalk is one of Orlando’s top spots for visitors looking to experience the Universal atmosphere for an evening. Featuring a live-band karaoke bar, the all-in-one dining, entertainment and retail hub offers a variety of ways to have fun after dark.

Adjacent to the theme parks, Downtown Orlando offers dancing and lounging options galore, including Wall St. Plaza, a collective of seven venues in one location. With everything from martini bars to nightclubs, the plaza has something for every type of night owl.
